Rockin’ with Phi Sigma Sigma

On September 20, 2011 Phi Sigma Sigma hosted their first Rock-a-thon!  Rock-a-thon is a philanthropy event that is recognized nationally by Phi Sigma Sigma to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation.  The idea of the event is to have teams rock for 8 hours in representation of all those who suffer from kidney diseases and use this treatment on dialysis.  Phi Sigma Sigma had 13 teams sign up and had over 297 participants!  With the support of the WPI community, Phi Sigma Sigma Gamma Iota raised over $3676 for the National Kidney Foundation!  Thank you to all for your support and donations!

Theta Chi Fraternity Builds a Playground for a Local Daycare Center

On September 10th members of Theta Chi Fraternity at WPI participated in the construction of a new playground at the Chestnut School Program of Elm Park Center at 134 Burncoat Street in Worcester.  The Elm Park Center needed help moving a playground from another site in Worcester and reinstalling it at 134 Burncoat Street.  The playground build included assembling of the playground equipment, mounting them in place with concrete, and the covering of the playground area with a fresh layer of low-impact woodchips.  At the end of the day, the brothers had successfully completed the playground installation that will provide a fun and safe environment for the children of the Elm Park Center.
